Why You Should Be A Sponsor
What do thousands of people do before they indulge in Thanksgiving dinner? They join family and friends from all over for the Ashenfelter 8K Classic and the Tom Fleming 2K. This event is the epitome of a happy, feel good, down home spirit and we would like for you to join us.
The race has been awarded the status of being the USA Track & Field, NJ Masters Men’s & Women’s 8K Championship, which is an important race in the 2019 grand prix road racing series. The A8K Classic and the Tom Fleming 2K (aka Ridger Romp), which is held just before the featured A8K Classic, always draw a large crowd and enthusiastic gallery of spectators with runners from 3 to 83 years old.
In 1952, local hero Horace Ashenfelter won the Gold Medal in the steeplechase at the Helsinki, Finland Olympics. This year we will hold the 21st annual Ashenfelter 8K Classic in his honor. The A8K and TF2K, which have become a tradition for thousands, have grown by leaps and bounds over the years with entrants from all over Essex County and well beyond. This year we are planning for more than 3,200 participants for just the A8K Classic, which is one of the most popular running events in the state of New Jersey. Another 500 are anticipated for the TF2K.
Proceeds from the A8K and TF2K races will go to the Glen Ridge Educational Foundation (a not-for-profit organization) which produces the events and provides supplemental funding for the town’s schools. The realities of life today are such that districts like this very high performing one must rely on additional, private funding in order to continue to provide a high quality education.
To produce a first class running event like this costs a considerable amount of money. Without sponsorship, the event would not exist and that is why we need your support.
The Glen Ridge Educational Foundation thanks our 2024 sponsors.
We hope you will consider becoming a supporter of this iconic event. Click here for more information and to fill out the sponsorship form.
